3 arrests in demonstration at Ellendale college

ELLENDALE, N.D. (AP) A national gay rights group held a demonstration today at Trinity Bible College in Ellendale.

Organizers say three people were arrested after they left an area set aside for demonstrators and tried to walk to the school's chapel, The three were released after posting 500-dollars bail apiece.

Havin Herrin is an organizer of the Soulforce Equality Ride.

She says its members go to colleges and universities they believe discriminate against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students.

About 40 group members protested a Trinity Bible policy that says students should avoid sexual immorality including homosexuality, sexual violence, adultery, premarital sex and pornography.

Herrin says homosexuality should not be on the list.

Trinity Bible's vice president of college relations, Steve Tvedt (TWETT), said the school would not meet with the demonstrators because there was nothing to discuss.

Herrin says the group plans to go to Northwestern College in St.

Paul, Minnesota, on Wednesday.
