Montana man among crew members aboard submarine found Wednesday...Aug 24 2007 7:14AM
Associated Press KISKA, Alaska (AP) A Montana man was one of 70 crew members carried to their deaths, aboard a World War II submarine discovered off the coast of Alaska. The USS Grunion disappeared 65 years ago off the Aleutian Island of Kiska. The Grunion patrolled the Aleutian Islands during the early months of the war. The discovery culminates a five-year search, led by the sons of its commander, and may answer questions about the last moments of the U.S. Navy vessel. Among the crew was a radio operator from Billings, Wesley Hope Blinston. The radioman third class was about 23 years old. Blinston graduated from Billings Senior High in 1936.
