Associated Press MEXICO CITY (AP) Defense Secretary Robert Gates says there's still a "continuing flow" of Iranian support for the Taliban. He says sending a second aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf serves as a "reminder" to Iran. Washington (AP) A new study from the Army shows that taking a chance on a well-screened applicant with a record of bad conduct usually pays off. Soldiers who get into the Army with a waiver tend to stay in the service longer, get promoted faster and earn more medals for valor. WASHINGTON (AP) President Bush is accusing the Democratic-led Congress of not dealing with rising fuel prices and the slumping economy. He says he long ago sent lawmakers proposals to deal with the nation's economic problems, but all the measures were delayed. One key Democrat says Bush's criticism is "disingenuous at best." CAPITOL HILL (AP) More GOP lawmakers are signing on to the Democrats' housing rescue plan, even though President Bush opposes it. Republican Steven LaTourette says the plan has the ability to keep people in their houses. NEW YORK (AP) The man who discovered the mind-altering drug LSD and intended it to be used as a medicine has passed away at the age of 102.
