Highlander beer makes a comebackMay 2 2008 5:22AM
Associated Press And Missoulians will be among the first to taste the new and improved suds at the Garden City Beer Festival on Saturday. Highlander was produced until the Missoula Brewing Company closed in 1964 to make room for Interstate 90. The new version will keep the name but will taste different than the original light beer. Missoula attorney Bob Lukes and his wife, Shannon, have partnered with Whitefish's Great Northern Brewing Company to produce the new Highlander, a Scotch-style amber ale. Highlander is expected to be available on taps from Missoula to Butte in June. Lukes says he hopes to bottle the beer within a year.
