But an Associated Press examination finds most of the promises made by casino supporters have been kept, including tens of thousands of jobs, billions of dollars for state coffers and a national name for New Jersey among gamblers and vacationers. College grad Merceda Gooding, who's looking for an entry-level management job at a casino, says all she can find are waitress or maid jobs. But Resorts Atlantic City president Tony Rodio says casinos were never intended to cure all of Atlantic City's ills. % |
