Cocaine filling gap caused by meth dropJul 26 2008 10:02AM
Associated Press SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) Sioux Falls police say a crackdown on methamphetamine is working but it has opened a hole for more cocaine possession and distribution cases. They say cocaine gives a similar high for about the same price and its popularity is partly due to the drop in locally produced meth. The trend is also listed in a June report by the U.S. Justice Department. Despite the meth drop, law enforcement officers say it's still a problem and remains a top priority. Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead says most of the methamphetamine and cocaine found in South Dakota come from Mexican suppliers.
