Report: More UCLA staff saw celebs' health recordsAug 5 2008 6:25AM
Associated Press That's nearly double the number reported earlier this year. The California Department of Public Health report examined a 30-month period which ended in June 2006. The report also shows three hospital workers continued to look at the records of a "well-known individual" after a crackdown in April. The state has not released the name of that celebrity. State regulators blame the hospital for not taking adequate steps to maintain patient confidentiality. The report says one former administrative specialist looked at the records of about 900 patients "without any legitimate reason." Previous reports said she had only looked at about 60 medical records. She faces criminal charges. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 08-05-08 0619CDT |
