Stocks rally...Oil and gas down...Loyal hybrid owners...Aug 11 2008 1:12PM
Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) With a further pullback in oil prices, the stock market has firmed. The key averages are in positive territory, with the Dow up more than 100 points. NEW YORK (AP) Prices at the pump are falling, too. The national average for a gallon of gas is down to $3.81 a gallon. That's according to auto club AAA. DETROIT (AP) A new report finds that hybrid car owners are some of the most loyal in the U.S. market. Experian Automotive says nearly half purchase a vehicle of the same make when they buy another car. Owners of the Toyota Prius were the most loyal when it involved buying another Toyota. NEW YORK (AP) New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says he is expanding a probe into the collapse of the auction-rate securities market to include JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley and Wachovia. Last week, Cuomo's office and the SEC reached settlements and fines involving UBS and Citigroup. ATLANTA (AP) The union representing United Airlines pilots is urging CEO Glenn Tilton to resign. It accuses him of steering the nation's Number-2 carrier down a path to poor customer service, employee morale and financial performance. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press.
