School board to sue over sports coverageAug 27 2008 7:22AM
Associated Press PIERRE, S.D. (AP) The Pierre School Board has decided to seek a court order to stop KCCR Radio from play-by-play broadcasting of out-of-town athletic events, such as Football and Basketball games. Dakota Radio Group, which owns KGFX Radio in Pierre, was earlier given a five-year contract for exclusive broadcasting rights to high school sports. School Board members say that is a precedent in South Dakota. KCCR contends that the contract covers only home games and that it has the right to broadcast out-of-town games, starting with Friday's football season opener at Spearfish.
