BAGHDAD (AP) The U.S. military says an American soldier has died in a roadside bombing in Iraq.

A statement says today's blast hit near a vehicle carrying the Multi-National Division soldier as it traveled through southern Iraq.

The attack came in a mainly Shiite area that saw fierce clashes until an anti-U.S. cleric declared a cease-fire earlier this year.
