IMF backs G7...North Korea removed from terror list...Obama praises...Oct 11 2008 4:56PM
Associated Press Washington (AP) The International Monetary Fund says it strongly endorses a plan by the wealthy Group of Seven countries to fight the global credit crisis. The IMF's policy setting panel says the crisis is so deep and widespread that it requires exceptional coordination among nations and a willingness to take bold action. WASHINGTON (AP) The U.S. is removing North Korea from its terrorism blacklist. The move comes after North Korea relented on nuclear inspection demands. The action is aimed at salvaging a faltering disarmament accord before President Bush leaves office. But some conservatives say it rewards bad behavior by North Korea. PHILADELPHIA (AP) Barack Obama is acknowledging that John McCain has asked his supporters to temper their attacks on him. At a rally in Philadelphia, Obama told thousands of his supporters that he appreciates McCain's reminder that the candidates can disagree while still being respectful of each other. JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) sarah palin is attacking Barack Obama on abortion. Campaigning in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, today, she told a crowd that Obama has "left behind even the middle ground on the issue of life." Palin said she and John McCain would be "defenders of the culture of life." DENNIS, Mass. (AP) A wayward manatee is being trucked home to Florida after being rescued this morning from frigid waters off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The juvenile male manatee will be rehabilitated at Sea World and then released into the wild. Manatees are normally found off Florida and Georgia and stop feeding if they get too cold.
