EmeryBridgewater consolidation vote delayedOct 12 2008 7:35AM
Associated Press BRIDGEWATER, S.D. (AP) The state Department of education says an error it made has led to the postponement of school consolidation elections in the Bridgewater and Emery districts. The reorganization plan, which has the department's approval, must be printed in the school districts' legal newspapers at least twice. State law says the announcement must be a certain size. The department says the announcements were published but they did not meet either requirement of the law. Both school boards now must approve and submit the consolidation plan again. After that, the state Department of Education will give the districts a new election date.
