CHICAGO (AP) President-elect Obama says his top priority will be to get Congress to approve an economic stimulus plan. He says it would extend jobless benefits, send food aid to the poor, dispatch Medicaid funds to states and spend tens of billions of dollars on public works projects.

Washington (AP) The nation's jobless rate has soared to a 14-year high of 6.5 percent. More than 10 million people are now unemployed, and that could get worse with more layoffs expected in the auto industry.
