RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Words of prayer and praise have been echoing through churches across the country today, with clergy asking God to give President-elect Obama the wisdom and strength to lead the country. The mood has been especially jubilant in predominantly black churches.

Washington (AP) Aides say, as the future first lady, Michelle Obama isn't seeking a policy-shaping role in her husband's administration. Valerie Arrett, who's helping with the transition, tells NBC's "Meet the Press" Michelle Obama doesn't want to be "co-president." Her chief priority is her two daughters.

PETIONVILLE, Haiti (AP) Frustrated Haitians have stormed the twisted wreckage of a collapsed school to demand that rescuers speed up the search for victims. Friday's collapse claimed the lives of at least 88 children and adults.

JERUSALEM (AP) A brawl between Armenian and Greek Orthodox monks prompted Israeli police to rush into one of Christianity's holiest sites today. Two clergymen were arrested after the clash at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher (SEHP'-uhl-kuhr) in Jerusalem.

MEXICO CITY (AP) A Vatican envoy is seeking to assure disappointed Mexicans that Pope Benedict is not snubbing the country with his decision not to attend the World Family Day celebration there next year. The Vatican says Mexico City is just too high above sea level for the 81-year-old pope's health.
