The meeting was called "constructive, relaxed and friendly." WASHINGTON (AP) The Federal Reserve is letting American Express become a bank holding company, citing what it calls "emergency conditions." American Express will be able to accept deposits and permanently access Fed money. RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Circuit City has blown a financial fuse, announcing that it's filed for bankruptcy protection. The electronics chain will keep operating as it reorganizes, but says another 700 jobs have been slashed. WASILLA, Alaska (AP) Alaska Governor sarah palin has scheduled a number of interviews over the next few days in the wake of the Republican presidential defeat. Her future political plans are sure to be a major topic. OMAHA, Neb. (AP) Nebraska is still investigating the abandonment of a 17-year-old boy under the state's safe-haven law.
