Associated Press MUMBAI, India (AP) At least 82 people have been killed and more than 100 injured following a series of attacks by gunmen in Mumbai, India. The targets included Westerners at hotels, a train station and hospitals. Officials say some of the gunmen have been killed and at least 9 have been captured. Washington (AP) The White House says President Bush is pledging to stand by the people of India following a series of deadly terrorist strikes in Mumbai. And press secretary Dana Perino says the U.S. stands ready to assist and support the Indian government. NEW YORK (AP) New York police have bolstered security in subways and trains. An internal memo obtained by The Associated Press says the FBI has received a "plausible but unsubstantiated" report on a possible attack on the region's mass transit system during the holiday season. CHICAGO (AP) President-elect Barack Obama and his wife and their daughters were handing out dinner at a food bank in Chicago today. Obama, dressed casually in a leather jacket and khakis pants, called out "happy Thanksgiving" and told people to call him Barack. DETROIT (AP) Chrysler chief Robert Nardelli won't be flying on a corporate jet when he returns to Washington next week for congressional hearings on government loans for the auto industry.
