Death toll...Iraq attack...Arkansas murderNov 29 2008 2:55AM
Associated Press BAGHDAD (AP) The U.N. office in Iraq says a rocket attack has targeted a U.N. compound in Baghdad. It says three foreigners have been killed and 14 others wounded. The victims worked for a catering company. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) A suspect in the murder of an ArKansas TV anchorwoman is also suspected of raping a school teacher elsewhere in the state. Police arrested Curtis Vance in Little Rock earlier this week. He has not entered a plea in the murder case. NEW YORK (AP) Wall Street closed out the week today with its biggest five-day rally in more than 75 years. The jump came despite signs of a bleak holiday season for retailers and fears that economic reports due out next week will show more economic trouble. UNDATED (AP) Early reports from retailers suggest the shopping crowds were at least as big this Black Friday as they were last year. Some retailers extended their hours more than ever this year. And so did shoppers like Debra Penrod and her sister in Oklahoma City, who hit the road at 2:30 a.m. Friday to be ready when the closest J.C. Penney opened at 4 a.m. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 11-29-08 0249CST |
