Evacuations

Its a scary feeling...

A cop comes to your door and tells you to leave the area as soon as possible.

This is the reality for some homeowners in Bismarck-Mandan.

Brad Feldman joins us live from south Bismarck with more...

(Linda Wolf/ Resident) "Mostly just uh-oh they are here...we werent surprised." Just minutes before...A Bismarck Police officer gave Wolf the news...the water that crept closer to her home overnight is now a serious danger

(Linda wolf/ Resident) "With the little ones yeah I am not going to stick around. we will do our best to make it water tight and head out." This same scenario is being played out throughout much of south Bismarck

(valerie Easton/ Resident) "The water has risen a little bit. its up past our sidewalk up to our driveway." (Chet Haux/ Resident) "There wasn't any water here last night and this morning the street was filled and the creek overflowed in the back here and so we are just hoping for the best." Its estimated four thousand people live in the area threated by the rising Missouri River

Some are just doing what they can with the help of others...but what we found out...is very few of those given voluntary evacuation orders are planning on leaving

(Chet Haux/ resident) "I think I am going to stay here tonight I think to see what happens." Others have decided to just get ready in case the waters begin to rise even more. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
