CLASSIC ROCK: JIMI HENDRIX-CHILDHOOD HOME DISMANTLED RENTON, Washington (AP) If someday soon, some guy with a guitar comes up and says he's playing Jimi Hendrix's house, don't accuse him of doing some of Hendrix's drugs. He may be telling the truth. The home where Jimi Hendrix grew up may end up as someone's ax. The house near Seattle is being taken down, after a futile eight-year effort to save it. But the owner still has plans for parts of the place. Pete Sikov tells the Seattle Times parts of the home have been saved and may be sold later. He envisions a guitar made out of Hendrix's house and figures it would be a popular item. Hendrix lived in the house between the ages of 10 and 13.

POP: "American Idol"-KRIS CROSSES A THRESHHOLD LOS ANGELES (AP) He usually isn't one of the guys you think of when you think about the front runners in this year's "American Idol" competition. But after tonight, that may change for Kris Allen. He captured the ears and the hearts of the judges with his take on the old Bill Withers tune, "Ain't No Sunshine." He said going into the song he wanted to create one of those "moments" the judges always are talking about. And they seemed to agree that he did. Randy said he liked it because it was "so creative," and even Simon declared it as Kris' "best performance so far." Adam got another round of props for his latest effort, a do-over of the Wild Cherry song "Play That Funky Music." Paula said it was "true genius" and compared him to Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler.

Some of the acts that got panned last night were Anoop, Megan and Matt. The results show is tonight. Former "Idol" alum David Cook performs.

POP: "AMERICAN IDOL"-COUNTING ON KARA LOS ANGELES (AP) Used to be it was Paula that was the "American Idol" judge who you had to keep a close ear on because she would say something strange. Now, it's Kara who has been raising eyebrows the past two weeks on "Idol." After Adam Lambert did an updated version of the disco-era Wild Cherry song, "Play That Funky Music," Kara was feeling the vibe, saying it felt "like Studio 57 up in here." Of course, the famous disco from back in the day was Studio 54. Last week she said she had six words for a contestant, then reeled off eight. She did better with her math this time around. After Kris Allen did a particularly creative version of "Ain't No Sunshine," Kara said she had three words for him "that is artistry." Even Ryan picked up on Kara's goof last time, telling her he gets nervous now when she starts saying how many word she plans to use in her critiques.

R&B/OLDIES: MARVIN GAYE ANNIVERSARY UNDATED (AP) Hard to believe, but it's true. Marvin Gaye was shot to death 25 years ago today by his own father during an argument. During his career, Gaye emerged as one of the most socially conscious artists of his day with songs like "What's Going On" and "Mercy, Mercy Me." But he also showed his sensual side on tunes like "Let's Get It On" and songs like that only fueled the inner struggle between the boy who began singing in church and the man who tried to sing women out of their clothes.

Marvin Gaye would have turned 70 years old tomorrow.

POP/CLAY AIKEN: DAVID FOSTER TALKS ABOUT SISTER MAKING BABY FOR "IDOL" STAR WASHINGTON (AP) You may have thought it odd. But music producer David Foster says he has no problem with the fact that his sister gave birth to Clay Aiken's son. Foster says the deal "made a lot of sense on a lot of levels," since Aiken is gay and his sister, who had been married for more than two decades, had always wanted to have a baby. The only question in his mind was whether his sister Jaymes, who was closing in on 50, would be able to get pregnant. As for Aiken, Foster says he knew he was gay before the media caught on, but it's no biggie as far as the arrangements with his sister go. Just what are those "arrangements?" Foster himself isn't even sure. He says Aiken, his partner and his sister are "working it out" though he calls it "a beautiful way to have a family." Aiken's son, Parker, was born last August.

POP: Madonna: SAYS SHE'S FOLLOWING ADOPTION RULES IN MALAWI MCHINJI, Malawi (AP) Madonna has made quite a reputation as an artist who doesn't play by the rules. But she says she's definitely playing by the rules when it comes to her efforts to adopt another child from Malawi. She issued a statement through her people that she's following standard procedures in trying to secure a second child from the impoverished African nation. Some critics both in Africa and Britain have complained that she has been using her fame to fast-track the adoption process. Other critics suggest a better way to help the child she wants to adopt is to provide money to help her extended family to care for her. In 2006, Madonna adopted a boy from Malawi. David is now 3 years old.

OLDIES: YOKO ONO-REMEMBERING MONTREAL MONTREAL (AP) It would probably draw more ewwws than ooohs if they did it now. But Yoko Ono says she will always have fond memories of the bed-ins she did with her hubby John Lennon 40 years ago. She says what she remembers most about the one in Montreal is that after the reporters went away for the night, she and the former Beatle would look out of the hotel window and check out the skyline. She is back in Montreal, but no, there will be no repeat of the bed-ins. She's there to open an exhibit at an art museum which traces the couple's life from their meeting in 1966 to the 1969 bed-in.

POP: TAYLOR DAYNE: BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL LOS ANGELES (AP) So much for senior prom being a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Taylor Dayne is giving some former high school students a second shot at their prom. She will be performing for the Chandler High Class of '88. During the show, Dayne will perform her hit, "Tell It To My Heart." The show airs on TV Land Prime.
