NASA Drastically Revises Global Temperature Numbers

And wouldn’t you know it, the warmest year on record for the world wasn’t 1998 so much as it was 1934, or just 20 or so years after the automobile began seeing widespread use

NASA has now silently released corrected figures, and the changes are truly astounding. The warmest year on record is now 1934. 1998 (long trumpeted by the media as record-breaking) moves to second place. 1921 takes third. In fact, 5 of the 10 warmest years on record now all occur before World War II. Anthony Watts has put the new data in chart form, along with a more detailed summary of the events

The effect of the correction on global temperatures is minor (some 1-2% less warming than originally thought), but the effect on the US global warming propaganda machine could be huge.

Avert your eyes, global warming zealots.  If Al Gore says there’s a scientific consensus about global warming then damn it there is a scientific consensus, and no amount of backpedaling by the lamers at NASA is going to prove otherwise

But let’s set sarcasm aside and focus on the most ironic part of this story.  You know what caused this error at NASA?  A Y2K< bug. Meaning that the effects of one gigantically over-hyped global armaggedon non-issue may have just taken the wind out of the sails of another

No idiot. just for America. Perhaps you should learn to read before impressing everyone with your partisan rhetoric,

Posted by Thomas on Aug 12 2007 7:47AM - What makes you think, that everywhere else people aren't even worse at measuring temperatures than in US?

What makes you think, that America has a stable temperature, when elsewhere is warming?

Global Waring case ... has even less case now. Even much less.

Posted by ERIC on Aug 13 2007 9:31AM - Yes, NotAsDumb....Is that why it's snowing in Buenos Aires for the first time since 1918?
