Michael Medved: Rush Limbaugh Is Acting Like A Liberal

A lot of people on the right are upset over Rush Limbaugh’s dislike of John McCain, accusing him of setting his bar for who is and is not an appropriately conservative candidate too high.  Apparently these people feel that Limbaugh should carry water for whoever the Republican nominee is instead of adhering to his political principles

Michael Medved has been one of the loudest of these critics, citing McCain’s rise in the GOP primary this year as evidence of Limbaugh’s declining influence and even going so far as to accuse Limbaugh of acting like a liberal

One wonders if Medved actually believes this line of argument or is simply baiting Rush in order to get mentioned a dozen or so times on the most listened to talk radio show in the country.  Regardless, I doubt the condescension from people who feel as Medved does toward those conservatives who want a candidate that is strong on illegal immigration and isn’t a populist is going to gain a lot of traction.  In the end many Republicans may be willing to acknowledge the inevitability of a McCain nomination, and support him because he’s at least an improvement over a Hillary presidency, while still recognizing that he’s a terrible candidate when it comes to certain other issues like illegal immigration, campaign finance reform, fiscal conservatism, etc

But that doesn’t mean all Republicans will, and people on the right like Medved may live to regret their attempts to shove McCain down everyone’s throats when disillusioned Republicans of the more libertarianish variety/border securityish variety choose to stay home instead of support him

Posted by sg on Jan 31 2008 11:30AM - I am farther right than even Rushbo, and I will sit home rather than vote for McCain. McCain is just another RINO, republican in name only...
Mitt Romney would be our best chance to beat hillary or obama.

Posted by Gator on Feb 1 2008 11:06AM - I used to listen to Medved and Prager but Damn all the ever did was whine and do the PO me,I used to get Laura Ingram but
my station doesn't carry her. As for Rush he is just a blow hard.
I catch O'Reilly when I can but my main man is Dennis Miller
He is sharp and has a quick mind and one on one I belive he
could hold his own with any talk show host. The best thing about
Dennis he isn't full of him self...

Posted by RC Lueking on Feb 4 2008 6:10PM - MMedved represents my sentiments!! I am a phramaceutical rep. and have listened to Rush for at least 19 yrs. But I am DONE with Rush! what a baby! That whole group (Matalin, Hannety, COULTER, Ingraham and Bruce) do not represent me as a conservative. THey are hugh whinners. Coulter should be banned from anything considered Republican. SHE IS a traitor for sugesting that she would vote for Clinton rather than McCain. If they don't like McCain then they should have helped support someone we can like (not Romney). It is time to find new voices for the Conservative GOP. OK Micheal, you have my ear!!!
