DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Casey Janssen has a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder and, according to general manager J.P. Ricciardi (rih-CHAR'-dee), will miss the upcoming season.

The right-hander had thrown just a few pitches in the bullpen at the minor league complex prior to throwing in a simulated game yesterday, when he shut it down.

Janssen went 2-and-3 with a 2.35 ERA in 70 relief appearances last season.

Janssen was slated to move out of the bullpen and into the starting rotation this year, competing for the fifth spot with Jesse Litsch.
