BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) The head Football coach at Montana State University in Bozeman says quarterbacks coach Jim Svoboda has an excellent recovery prognosis following surgery for cancer of the appendix.

Svoboda underwent surgery May 19 at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

MSU coach Rob Ash says Svoboda is with family and friends in the Midwest and California during his recuperation.

Svoboda became the quarterbacks coach at MSU in 2007, after working as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at UCLA.
