Mandan City Comm

A Mandan City amended ordinance requiring some businesses to install an electronic door fails

The original ordinance stated a business getting any kind of public funds must install the electronic doors

The amended version made it to include businesses getting any funds from the City of Mandan

Mandan Mayor Tim Helbling says it would be too difficult for the city to track money given by other government entities.

Tim Helbling/ Mandan Mayor: "But if we go and say any type of funds somebody might go out for FHA Financing and some other type of public financing that the city would never come across our desk."

Susan Beehler/ Mandan Resident: "It's all available..."

Tim Helbling/ Mandan Mayor: “It is but the city does not have the staff, the where with all or should the city even be involved in somebodys personal financial arrangements."

Mayor Helbling says the failure to come up with a compromise means city leaders are left in a hard spot

He says they will have to check into each building permit to see if they are getting any funds from other agencies. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
