Business March 12th

It was tough to hear this week that Skyes in Minot will be closing, but heres a business who says believes they are fortunate to be growing these days.

MLT vacations will begin some training classes next week, as they plan to hire 70 to 100 more people. They tell us they have seen a lot of changes because of the addition of Continental vacation packages a few months ago, and because of the merger between Delta and Northwest. For those interested in a job, stop by the office on north Hill or go to NWAworldvacations.com.

Two exercise studios in downtown Minot are now in a different location

Moore's Karate and Unbreakable Fitness moved to #7 First Street East. Rodger Martin of Moore's Karate says this building better suits their needs. They were in the former Pennys building. Moore's Karate has been in town 4 years. Unbreakable Fitness opened a few months ago, offering a type of fitness thats new to North Dakota, featuring kettle bells, a weight, cardio and flexibility workout.

Anytime Fitness on 20th Ave in Minot is now locally owned. James and Carmen Buckmeier bought this business, that had been owned corporately. The Buckmeier's also operate Anytime Fitness in Rugby. They plan a few changes at the 24 hour fitness center.

Along Highway Two in Stanley, after many months of construction, Gooseneck Implement has opened its doors. Officials say they nearly tripled their space, which they needed for the larger equipment these days. They are adding inventory and employees. A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, March 28th. And nearby, Stanley Equipment has moved into its new building along Highway Two. Owner Roger Gjellstad says they outgrew their old building which they'd been in for 50 years. They needed more space for employees and equipment..and the visibility along the highway is a plus. A grand opening is scheduled for April 23rd.

In the downtown area of Kenmare, the Choo Choo Cafe opened this week. Stan and Kim Kopp, who moved here from California, bought this older building, and it took them a great deal of time to get it rennovated and ready for this family resturant centered around a train theme.
