House defeats ND insurance bill at Blues' requestMar 13 2009 5:17PM
Associated Press Bismarck, N.D. (AP) Blue Cross Blue Shield says it no longer wants to push a bill to change how the North Dakota Insurance Department regulates the company. The state House went along on Friday and voted down the legislation, 91-1. Cooperstown Rep. Don Vigesaa says the Blues and Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm have clashed recently, but they're going to try to start fresh. The bill shortened the amount of time the Insurance Department would have had to look over requests to increase rates. Blue Cross contends Hamm has taken too long to review some recent rate cases. An administrative law judge sided with the company on one rate dispute. The bill is SB2306. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 03-13-09 1700CDT |
