Linton Flooding - Round Two

More devasting floods around the region...

We start tonight in Linton...

Linton residents head back to the front lines of the flood fight.

Reporter Sarah Gustin takes us south to assess the second round of damage.

water (Brent Bodvig / Linton Resident) "You got alot of these people with their personal belongings that you can see are strung out on the curbside. It looks like a Tornado hit the town and put everything on the curb." (Shawna Paul / Emmons County Emergency Manager) "There is a whole area south of town, that is all flooded most the people are still evacuated and then in Old town in Sampson Ave is compelty underwater right now, but those homes were all evacuated in March and they still are. Very few of the homes have had anyone go back into them." She says 50 homes are evacuated

She says the water started rising Saturday-since then she says the Beaver Creek has crested 3 times. (Shawna Paul / Emmons Co. Emergency Manager) "It has been going up to 15 feet and then it will drop a couple feet and then it will go back to 15. 15.3 is where we were at in 1997. So that is where Sampson is underwater and then it goes back down, but it just kinda does a yo-yo thing." Water rushing down your street is bad enough

But these rushing waters don't stop at the curb

Water sweeping (Brent Bodvig / Linton Resident) "It just keeps on doubling up on them. For the people that have cleaned out their basements, gutted them out now this is going to be a second round of cleaning up, sanitizing." All that is left for now is to wait for the clean-up and cross your fingers there won't be a round three. In Linton for KX News, I am Sarah Gustin."

Paul says FEMA was in town today.

She say FEMA is planning to have a disaster recovery center in City Hall by Wednesday morning. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
