PSC considers Dickey County wind projectApr 30 2009 6:11AM
Associated Press ELLENDALE, N.D. (AP) A company seeking to build a wind project with 116 turbines in Dickey County says it hopes to start construction this summer. Officials of NextEra, formerly Florida Power and Light, say a four township area in western Dickey County is ideal for the project. Each turbine is to produce about 1.5 megawatts of energy. Ellendale Mayor Monica Peldo said the community is excited about the plans, though she said area roads are not in good shape now and that could lead to problems after construction. NextEra spokesman Josie Hernandez says the company is making an investment of about $310 million. Eric Klindt, a crop sprayer from Campbell, Minn., said the towers used to research wind resources are dangerous because they are hard for crop sprayers to see. The PSC is expected to make a decision on the wind project in about a month. Information from: The Jamestown Sun, http://www.jamestownsun.com (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
