Wondering What HappenedJun 3 2009 7:29PM
KXMCTV Minot Search planes are criss-crossing an area off the coast of South America where some debris was discovered yesterday. The Airbus A-330 aircraft disappeared from radar on a flight from Rio De Janeiro to Paris. A mysterious crash of an airliner causes people involved in making the jet to pause -wondering what went wrong. That's the case in Killdeer where Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing makes various electronic parts for many airliners - although not for the A-330. (Kristin Hedger, KMM) "We compare ourselves to surgeons. When a surgeon has one life on a table, it's one life. We've got three hundred lives relying on us in our commercial planes and countless lives relying on us in our military systems so attention to detail is critical." Hedger says while KMM has not provided any parts for the A-330 aircraft, her company is involved in the two newest Boeing aircraft, the 777 and the 787. KMM has facilities in five North Dakota towns, with headquarters in Killdeer.
