Woman ordered to stop cateringJun 23 2009 4:06PM
Associated Press Bismarck, N.D. (AP) State health officials say a woman running an unlicensed catering business from her farm has been ordered to stop after dozens became ill from three events she catered. The Health Department is investigating illnesses at two weddings and a reunion over the past couple of weekends. Officials say the events in McClusky, Wilton and Washburn were catered by Aggie Jennings, who lives on a McLean County farm and has no catering license. She has been ordered to stop all catering activities. People who attended the gatherings reported symptoms similar to that of Salmonella infection, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps and fever. Epidemiologist Kirby Kruger says the signs "point to the caterer as the likely source" of the problem. He says preliminary tests indicate a strain of salmonella found in baby chicks.
