Three Affiliated Tribes Home Project BeginsJun 29 2009 7:38PM
KXMCTV Minot a groundbreaking ceremony near the Parshall Bay Recreation Area. The Three Affiliated Tribes 200 Plus Homes Initiative is designed to provide affordable housing to individuals living on the reservation. A total of 210 homes will be constructed in several reservation districts. The housing authority is currently seeking grant funding for down payments on the homes, and many homeowners will also have a lease to purchase option. Becky Knight with Fort Berthold Housing Authority says this initiative will provide new options for those who have struggled to buy a home. (Avallon (Becky) Knight, Ft. Berthold Housing Authority) "They can't believe that this is a reality for them. That they actually get to sit and take a look at floor plans and make those decisions themselves. And that's really important for us as an organization to work one-on-one with the homeowners, because they're the individuals who live in these homes." Each subdivision included in the initiative will provide around 40 homes for purchase. Infrastructure work within each district is scheduled to begin immediately.
