Mandan DedicationJul 2 2009 7:02PM
KXMBTV Bismarck A memorial telling the history of Mandan was presented to the mayor. Students from the class of '59 raised more than eight-thousand dollars to have the structure built. Mayor Helbling accepted the gift and thanked the class for remembering where they came from. (Tim Helbling/Mandan Mayor) "Well it's all so often it seems people grow up, graduate. A lot of them move on and out of their communities and they forget where they came from. It is just great that the class of '59 is remembering where their roots are." The memorial is replicated to look like the Mandan Depot. It was at their forty-fifth reunion where classmates decided to dedicate a memorial. (Greg Childs/Class of 1959) "Our class will forever live in downtown Mandan. As a said earlier this kind of our Mayberry of North Dakota. we all so enjoyed being raised in Mandan." If you want to catch a glimpse of the memorial, it is located at the clock-tower in Mandan in front of the old Depot.
