Reporter Kate Schell was at a local retailer that were stocking their shelves for the holiday.

It's a BOOMING business...(nats of fireworks) (Cam Knutson/Mgr Memory Fireworks) "The way the market is growing you know products are getting better and things have increased. The biggest item use to be the rattler which was 395, you know that was about 10 years ago, now to where things are getting big like 500 grammers, so sales have been going good." Which may be due in part to state laws..

(Cam Knutson/Mgr Memory Fireworks) "North Dakota can shoot all the big stuff which is good because thats what makes the 4th a good time." A good time that will soon go on without a crowd favorite..

(Cam Knutson/Mgr Memory Fireworks) "The new law with the bottle rockets is that you can legally shoot them, you can legally have them, you can just not longer sell them after August 1." Each year thousands of people are injured in accidents involving fireworks. Often times it happens when people aren't responsible

(Cam Knutson/Mgr Memory Fireworks) "Use common sense. Fireworks, you know, they can be dangerous but when they are used properly you won't have a problem. The crowd should be about 75-100 feet away from where the person is actually lighting the items. Similar to how you say use a sober driver, have a sober lighter. Make sure they are under control and they are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol while they are lighting." In Bismarck's city limitsall fireworks are prohibited according to city ordinance. Outside the city limits, any firework that is legally sold in stores can be shot.

In Mandan, city ordinance says fireworks are allowed to be shot off, but only on the second, third and fourth of July. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
