Eight US troops die in a single day in BaghdadJun 23 2007 9:22AM
Associated Press Four soldiers were killed in a single strike, when an explosion hit their vehicle during combat northwest of Baghdad. Another roadside bombing in Tikrit (tih-KREET') killed an airman. And two U-S soldiers were killed and three wounded when their unit was struck by a roadside bomb in Baghdad. Gunmen then opened fire on the troops in the predominantly Shiite area. An eighth soldier died from a non-battle-related cause. The incident is being investigated. According to an Associated Press count, at least three-thousand-five-hundred-55 members of the U-S military have died since the Iraq war started in 2003. % |
