113 years ago this month, the Parent Teacher Association was founded, and throughout the years there has been a countless number of PTA members dedicated to helping youth in America.

Tonight, the Minot PTA will recognize some of those outstanding members at its annual Founders' Day Banquet.

Several people will receive an Honorary Life Membership in the North Dakota PTA and others will receive a Certificate of Appreciation for their efforts in the community.

Minot schools have been receiving support from the PTA for many years and PTA members say communication has always been a key to their success...

(Lowell Latimer, Minot PTA) "education is a joint effort. Parents can't do it alone, so they send children to school. The school can't do it alone, they count on the parents to be of assistance. And so it's a natural for an organization to bring together the parents and the teachers for the education of children."
