Man surrenders after standoff; girlfriend found shot to death...Mar 17 2008 11:34PM
Associated Press AP Photo. KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) Flathead County sheriff's deputies say a man whose girlfriend was found shot to death has surrendered after a 31-hour standoff. Authorities say 46-year-old Robert Kowalski was taken into custody at his Creston home on Monday. Sheriff Mike Meehan says Kowalski's girlfriend, 45-year-old Lorraine Morrin, was found shot to death Sunday at her house near Columbia Falls. She had six children ranging from 9 to 28 years old. Meehan says Kowalskis roommate told a 9-1-1 dispatcher on Sunday that Kowalski said he had killed his girlfriend and was feeling suicidal. Officers surrounded Kowalski's house at about 2 p.m. Sunday. Deputies say he fired at least one shot into the air with a pistol. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 03-17-08 2326CDT |
