Canadian couple to set up Carrington dairy despite opposition...Apr 29 2008 11:55AM
Associated Press CARRINGTON, N.D. (AP) A Canadian couple who created controversy with a proposed dairy near Carrington say they'll forge ahead with their plans. Conny Van Bedaf says she and her husband, Corne, are quote "back on track and trying to forget all that happened" unquote. Opponents of the dairy had expressed worries about pollution, lower property values and other problems, while supporters said the farm would boost the area's economy. The Foster County Commission earlier this month approved a permit for the Van Bedafs' 1,500-cow operation despite a zoning board recommendation to deny the permit. The Van Bedafs still need a state Health Department permit. They hope to have that by the end of July, and to begin building their dairy by September. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press.
