State senator explores run for Minn. governor in 2010...May 28 2008 4:14PM
Associated Press ST. PAUL (AP) Minnesota Senator Tom Bakk (bahk) says he is exploring a run for governor in 2010. Bakk, a Democrat, says he plans to test his appeal at next week's state DFL convention in Rochester. He says he will decide by the end of the year whether he can raise enough money and attract the statewide support he would need to mount a credible campaign. If he runs, the senator from Cook would have to give up his state Senate seat and an influential position as head of the Senate Taxes Committee. Bakk is the second Democrat to file paperwork for a potential gubernatorial campaign, after Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner. Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty hasn't said whether he will seek a third term. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 05-28-08 1605CDT |
