Floods go on...More marriages today... Willie Axed

OAKVILLE, Iowa (AP) The flooding in Iowa isn't over yet. In fact, in some parts it hasn't even begun. But southeastern towns near the Mississippi River have been filling sandbags as they worry about precarious levees.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Hundreds or even thousands of gay couples are expected to tie the knot today in California. When gay marriage became legal at 5:01 p.m. local time yesterday, most county offices were closed.

CHICAGO (AP) Health insurance companies frequently rate doctors, so now, doctors are rating the health insurance industry.

Medicare was the best among eight plans, paying 98 percent of the contracted rate. United HealthCare was at the bottom of the list.

CAPITOL HILL (AP) The Senate Armed Services Committee is planning to take a look at the genesis of abusive methods used against suspected terrorists. Today's hearing is part of investigation into how detainees being held by the U.S. are treated.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) The New York Mets fired manager Willie Randolph early this morning. Gone with him are the team's pitching and first base coaches. Bench coach Jerry Manuel takes over on an interim basis.
