Worried therapist...Girl found safe...Bernie Mac hospitalized

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) A therapist for the chief suspect in the 2001 anthrax attacks told a Maryland judge last month that Bruce Ivins, who committed suicide this week, had attempted to poison people. The New York Times obtained a recording of Jean Duley's request for a protective order from Ivins and posted it on its Web site.

BALTIMORE (AP) The mother of a once-missing 7-year-old girl is on her way to Baltimore for a reunion with her daughter. The girl's father, who's accused of kidnapping the girl during a supervised visit in Boston, has been arrested; the girl was found safe.

DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) Police say a 12-year-old Arizona boy shot and killed his mother with a handgun after an argument. A Cochise County sheriff's spokeswoman says deputies found 34-year-old Sara Madrid shot multiple times Friday, and she died at a hospital. The boy has been booked on a charge of first-degree murder.

MARIPOSA, Calif. (AP) Firefighters in California are close to containing a 53-square-mile wildfire that has destroyed more than 20 homes in the mountains outside Yosemite National Park. Fire officials say the blaze is about 90 percent contained.

CHICAGO (AP) Comedian Bernie Mac is hospitalized in Chicago with pneumonia. His publicist says the 50-year-old Mac is responding well to treatment and should be released soon.
