Campaigns go on...Milk testing...Pope welcomes bishops

Washington (AP) John McCain's campaign plans to ramp up the attacks on Barack Obama over the final month of the presidential race. McCain's camp wants to raise questions about Obama's character and frame his policy proposals as "too risky."

UNDATED (AP) sarah palin has questioned Barack Obama's patriotism at three different campaign stops, each time suggesting he pals around "with terrorists" because of an association with former '60s radical Bill Ayers. Obama's camp says the comments are offensive but not surprising.

HONG KONG (AP) Hong Kong authorities say tests show the amount of melamine in Britain's Cadbury chocolate and cookies exceed a safe level for human consumption. Cadbury has said preliminary tests showed traces of melamine in chocolates produced at its Beijing factory, but the exact level was not known.

NEW YORK (AP) A new yank in the tug-of-war over Wachovia.

Citigroup originally announced they were buying Wachovia's banking operations last Monday. By Friday, Wells Fargo announced it was buying Wachovia for nearly 15 billion dollars. Yesterday, a New York judge weighed in, temporarily blocking Wells Fargo's attempt to snap up the company.

ROME (AP) Pope Benedict says modern culture is pushing God out of people's lives, and causing nations once rich in religious faith to lose their identities. Those comments came as he welcomes hundreds of bishops for a conference on the relevance of the Bible for contemporary Catholics.
