One woman who suffers from multiple sclerosis and a myriad of other problems shells out more than 730 dollars a month in order to get thousands in prescription drugs that she could never pay for herself. The first and best option for people who lose their employers' insurance is switching to coverage through a spouse or family member. Then there's the COBRA plan, which allows separated employees to keep their health coverage. But it forces them to pay 100 percent of the premium, in many cases five times more than what they paid while employed. At the group Families USA, a spokeswoman bluntly says there are no good options. % |
