Technology Helping Diabetes PatientsNov 21 2008 7:32PM
KXMCTV Minot From sending mail through computers, to using satellites to spray farm fields, advances in technology has made life a bit easier. That can be said for Diabetes patients as well. November is American Diabetes Month and those who battle the disease do so now with better tools than ever before. Deanna Westman works with diabetes patients for Trinity Health. She says the new tools out to deliver much needed insulin to a patient's body better than ever before...and watching blood sugar levels is easier too... (Deanna Westman, RN, CDE - Trinity Health) "My patients who have had diabetes for more than 30 years tell me about their first meters that were as big as a book and how long it took to take their blood sugars. One of the smallest we have now is right here so the entire kit is smaller than what their meter itself used to be." If you'd like more information on Diabetes education through Trinity Health contact them at 857-5268. And we'll have more on the new technology helping diabetes patients in this week's Eye on Health, Sunday night.
