He's scheduled to hold a news conference in Chicago today to announce former Democratic rival Hillary Rodham CLinton as his choice for secretary of state and Washington lawyer Eric Holder as attorney general.

LONDON (AP) The United States says Pakistan's response to investigation of the India terrorism attacks will be a test of the new civilian government. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the U.S. expects nothing short of complete cooperation. Rice is cutting short a European trip to visit India later this week.

CHICAGO (AP) The first snowstorm of the season messed up people's travel plans across the Great Lakes region. More than 50 flights were canceled at Chicago's O'Hare Airport and others were delayed flights up to an hour and a half. Federal authorities say airports across the country felt the winter chill.
