Economic updates...Big 3 return...Homeless deathDec 4 2008 6:53AM
Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) The heads of the Big Three carmakers could get another chilly reception today from Congress even though they've submitted a detailed bailout plan since their last visit. A top Democrat doubts there are the votes to give them money from the $700 billion rescue fund. ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) After meetings in Pakistan, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says she's satisfied it's committed to chasing down leads about the bombings in India. Tensions between India and Pakistan are up because the gunmen allegedly came from Pakistan. BAGHDAD (AP) Two suicide car bombings near police stations in Fallujah (fuh-LOO'-juh), Iraq, have reportedly killed 15 people and wounded more than 100. One station was said to be leveled. It's believed the bombings were coordinated because they were only minutes apart. LOS ANGELES (AP) A report on the death of a homeless woman at a Los Angeles hospital a year ago May says she could have survived if she'd gotten proper treatment. The woman lay on a floor, in pain, for almost an hour. The county report was obtained by the Los Angeles Times. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 12-04-08 0645CST |
