Death toll grows...Egypt helps...Savannah blast

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) Israel's Air Force is wiping out symbols of Hamas power, as its assault on Gaza continues. The three-day death toll has grown to at least 315, with about 1,400 wounded. One strike flattened a five-story building at Islamic University, one of the most prominent Hamas symbols in Gaza.

RAFAH, Egypt (AP) Egypt is taking in wounded Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. An Egyptian paramedic says he was told Egypt would take in about 20 to 30 casualties. Egypt has announced it will let trucks with food and medical supplies pass through its border crossing with the Gaza Strip.

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) The White House says it up to Hamas to end the fighting in Gaza. In a statement, it says "Hamas must stop firing rockets into Israel and agree to respect a sustainable and durable ceasefire."


SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) In Savannah, Georgia, police are evacuating downtown businesses after an apparent explosion underground. Police say the blast blew off three manhole covers. There's no immediate information on whether anyone was injured.

VIENNA, Austria (AP) A lawyer says Josef Fritzl's daughter and her six children have been able to leave the psychiatric clinic where they've been recovering from 24 years of imprisonment. Fritzl is facing charges of rape, incest, false imprisonment and enslavement, as well as murder for refusing to get medical treatment for one of the seven children he fathered with his daughter.
