Researchers to continue study of fishersMar 23 2009 7:15AM
KXNewsTeam Grand Forks, N.D. (AP) Researchers are slated to be back in the field this summer to study the influx of fishers in North Dakota. Fishers, members of the weasel family, traditionally inhabit forested areas such as those common in northern Minnesota. But the furbearers are becoming more prevalent in eastern North Dakota. Maggie Triska and Steve Loughry are graduate students at Frostburg State University in Maryland. Last year, the researchers fishers from just north of Fargo to the Canadian border. This year, Triska and Loughry say they plan to build on the data they gathered last summer to learn more about fisher populations in eastern North Dakota.
