Beer truck hits overpass, closing roadJul 1 2009 8:45AM
Associated Press GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) Great Falls police say an overpass was closed overnight for repairs after it was hit by a beer truck. Officer Steve O'Brien said a portion of the road under the overpass was also briefly closed Tuesday evening after a Bud Light trailer hauled by a Devine Brothers Distribution truck hit the bridge. Eric Schroedel, assistant roadmaster for BNSF Railway, said the overpass is used by BNSF freight trains and the impact shifted the tracks about 8 inches. He said that forced two trains to hold in Great Falls overnight while the rail was repaired. Schroedel said the delay shouldn't affect any delivery schedules. O'Brien said the driver of the truck was used to a trailer with a 12-foot clearance, instead of the 13 1/2-foot high trailer he was towing on Tuesday. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
