Associated Press CARNOUSTIE, Scotland (AP) Sergio Garcia continues to hold the lead through three rounds of the British Open at Carnoustie (kahr-NOOS'-tee). Garcia today shot a 3-under-par 68 for a 9-under total as he seeks his first career major title. Steve Stricker set a course record for an Open with a 7-under-par 64 that leaves him in second place, three shots back. NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) Meaghan Francella (fran-SEHL'-uh) has continued her improbable run at the Women's World Match Play event in New Rochelle, New York. Francella has advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-and-1 win over Pat Hurst, one day after she knocked off top-ranked Lorena Ochoa (oh-CHOH'-uh). The highest seed to reach the quarters is number-ten Mi Hyun Kim. ALBI, France (AP) Denmark's Michael Rasmussen (RAS'-myoo-sehn) continues to own the leader's yellow jersey following the 13th stage of the Tour de France. Rasmussen has a one-minute lead over Australian Cadel Evans after finishing eleventh in today's 33-point-six mile time trial. Alexandre Vinokourov (vihn-ah-KOOR'-ahf) won the stage in one hour, six minutes and 35 seconds. LOS ANGELES (AP) There's a good chance David Beckham won't play for the Los Angeles Galaxy in an exhibition against Chelsea later today. Beckham was unable to practice with his new team yesterday due to an injured left ankle. Galaxy coach Frank Yallop says Beckham won't start the match, and his availability will be a last-minute decision. NUERBURG, Germany (AP) Rookie driver and Formula One points leader Lewis Hamilton crashed into a wall during today's qualifying for the European Grand Prix in Germany. Hamilton returned to the track after visiting a hospital, saying he was lucky he didn't suffer any bruises. McLaren boss Ron Dennis said Hamilton hadn't broken anything and wanted to race, but that it was up to the doctors to clear him. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
