MSUNorthern, Westminster players honored

MSU-Northern, Westminster players honored Eds: APNewsNow.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) Players from MSU-Northern and Westminster College were named Frontier Conference Basketball Players of the Week.

Named men's player of the week Monday was Chris Johnson of Montana State-Northern.

The 6-foot-1 senior guard from Los Angeles averaged 21 points and three rebounds as Northern went 2-0 over the weekend, upsetting No. 11 Carroll College 73-69 and downing Rocky Mountain 83-72.

Johnson hit 57 percent of his field goals and was 2 of 2 from the free throw line.

Honored as women's player of the week was Shannon Evans of Westminster College.

The 5-8 senior guard from Morgan, Utah, scored 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as No. 17 Westminster routed No. 21 Lewis-Clark State 101-70. Evans hit 58 percent of her field goals and was 8 of 9 from the free throw line.
